Frameworks That Don't Freeze: A 4-Step Spine You Can Say Out Loud

TL;DR

Stop hunting for the perfect framework. Use a 4-step spine you can say out loud in 30 seconds so you never freeze in the first minute.

Most candidates freeze in the first 60 seconds because they hunt for the perfect framework. Interviewers do not score the template. They score how fast you structure the problem and start driving insight.

Stop memorizing 12 frameworks. Build one flexible spine you can adapt out loud.

The no-freeze spine

  1. Clarify the ask in one sentence (goal, constraint, decision).
  2. Split the problem into 3 to 4 MECE buckets that fit THIS prompt, not a textbook label.
  3. Pick a starting branch and say why it is highest impact first.
  4. Drive numbers with so-whats (fact, meaning, decision) as you go.

30-second opener script

"I want to make sure I understand the ask: grow profit by 20% in 12 months without raising prices. I'll look at volume, mix, and cost, and start with mix because it usually moves profit faster than raw volume."

If you cannot say that without a written template, the framework is owning you.
